External & Internal
Looking inward is hard, because you find imperfections. If you're someone who cares a lot, those imperfections can be daunting.
I've spent a large portion of my life looking for things outside:
people
opportunities
places
connections
by fate and my own proclivities, I've been forced to look inside at, well, me.
Looking inward is hard, because you find imperfections. If you're someone who cares a lot, those imperfections can be daunting.
So it's easy to turn outward to "fix" things with well intentioned activity.
A better job, a new city, more connections.
But when you look in the mirror, you won't see any of those.
The harder, but more lasting, change comes from improving ourselves.
Funny enough, the outcomes of these improvements (confidence, skill, empathy) often brings what we were looking for in the first place.
