To be free, you have to commit
Many of the greatest rewards come from doing the opposite of what you might expect.
Life is full of contradictions.
Many of the greatest rewards come from doing the opposite of what you might expect.
Freely spending money requires years of frugality and hard work.
Enjoying ice cream guilt-free requires adherence to diet and exercise.
Relaxing is easier after you've pushed hard.
The same is true for "freedom"—most think of goofing off, going on vacation, or doing nothing for weeks on end.
But true freedom comes from a sense of purpose. To be free is to express yourself in the way that resonates most.
It means understanding who you are and what you were meant to do. It means knowing who “your people” are and what “your place” is.
More than that, it means committing to those things—even when there might be better options out there. Even when it feels scary or constricting. Especially when it feels imperfect.
Freedom isn't about lounging on a beach with an empty schedule.
Freedom is waking up each day and consciously choosing your path. Committing yourself to others to make the world (and you) better.
To be free, you must first commit.
