Speed bumps
This morning I woke up to make a cup of coffee. Kettle on, scale out, beans measured & ground, pouring commenced.
But no steam came off the water. The beans weren't soaking.
While the screen remained alive, the kettle was dead. I blew it off and boiled my water in a pot, like a caveman.
I started with some meal prep, another Sunday routine. Zojirushi out, scale on, rice & spice in pot.
But I couldn't measure a thing.
The scale was unresponsive. I had a spare. Instant Pot out, chicken and broth in pot, outlet to wall.
ERROR C6. Unplug, plug. ERROR C6.
So I found my multimeter to check the fuse. ON. Nothing. OFF, ON. Nothing.
Battery dead. AAA? No 9V (the weird one), of course.
I returned to my kettle for a proper inspection. Three Y02 screws stared me down.
I now know what a Y02 screw is, I have some 9V, and AAA batteries on the way, and I'm buying a backup gooseneck kettle.
The kettle is pending a post-mortem and my Instant Pot came around.
The morning was funny, albeit inconvenient. Better yet, it was a good lesson.
Speed bumps happen. Things break. Setbacks are a part of life.
Laughter is the proper response.
